Laurent Sébastien Fournier is a French social anthropologist. He obtained his PhD in Montpellier (2002) before working as a lecturer in the universities of Nantes (2005–2015) and Aix-Marseille (2015–2021). He is now full professor at the LAPCOS research unit (UPR 7278) and at the University of Côte d’Azur in Nice. His research focuses on the history of European ethnology, on the transformations of traditional festivals, games, and sports in contemporary societies, and on intangible cultural heritage. He is the president of the Eurethno Network for Scientific and Technical Cooperation in European Ethnology (Council of Europe) and of the Société d’Ethnologie Française.
