Marco Motta is a senior researcher at the Institute of Anthropology, University of Neuchâtel. He is currently the recipient of an SNSF grant for a project looking at the impact of reception conditions in Switzerland on unaccompanied migrant minors at the transition to adulthood. Prior to this, he was affiliated with the universities of Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Toronto and Berne, and conducted research in Haiti on violence and the gray zone between state justice and informal modes of regulating social conflict. This project resulted in a book to be published in autumn 2025 entitled Life in the Cracks: Law, Violence, and Resistance in Haiti (New York, Fordham University Press). He previously also co-edited the volume Living with Concepts: Anthropology in the Grip of Reality (2021).
